House of Hundertwasser - One Day Workshop
Date: Saturday 22nd June 2024
In this workshop we will look to the Austrian Artist and Architect Friedrich Hundertwasser for inspiration. We will start the workshop with a presentation on Hundertwasser and his incredibly colourful and imaginative houses, we look at some of his influences and consider the importance and placement of Hundertwasser in the development of Modern mosaics. Following this students select or develop a creative house design to create in mosaic.
We will be working with Mexican and Italian Smalti, as well as cinca, cabochons and gems to create a small mosaic (approx 18cm x 25cm).
The mosaic will be ungrouted to preserve the luminosity of the smalti.
The colourful compositions will be enhanced by using tinted mortars and the background will be rendered with colourful cement based adhesive.
