ABOUT HEPWORTH STUDIOS
Established in 2010 Hepworth Studios (Formally Hughes Studio) offers a range of Art Classes, Mosaic Classes and specialty workshops in the Blue Mountains NSW.
Tutors Caitlin Hepworth, Andrea Ketterling and Erin Hall create a learning environment that is both positive and relaxed, working with their students individually by supporting or extending them as they need. In all classes there is a strong focus on learning the technical skills necessary for creative expression through material practice.
Our students are supported and encouraged to exhibit their artworks in exhibitions locally, nationally and internationally. Many students have been awarded prizes in Visual Arts and Mosaic.

ABOUT OUR TUTORS
Caitlin HepworthCaitlin Hepworth is a sculptural mosaic artist and leading mosaic educator based in the Blue Mountains of NSW, Australia. With tertiary training in Visual Arts (Sculpture) and Education, she brings rare depth to her teaching practice, shaped by decades of experience across galleries, museums, schools, symposiums and private studios.
Caitlin is the founder of The Art of Andamento and creator of the world’s only fully sequential online mosaic curriculum, produced in partnership with her business and life partner, Jim Stewart. Together they lead a global learning platform and membership, Andamento Academy, supporting mosaicists through online, in-person, short-form and immersive instruction. Over her career, Caitlin has guided hundreds of students from their first mosaic through to exhibition-level practice. She is known for her clear, step-by-step teaching approach and her ability to challenge advanced practitioners to refine technique, deepen thinking, and strengthen creative direction. Alongside her teaching, Caitlin maintains an active sculptural mosaic practice and regularly exhibits new work. Staying connected to the international mosaic community is central to her work; mosaic has taken her to learning opportunities and events in the USA, Italy, Türkiye and Mexico. She has also volunteered with the Mosaic Association of Australia and New Zealand for over 12 years, including national leadership roles supporting members educational development. |
Andrea KetterlingAndrea Ketterling is a Canadian-born mosaic artist and educator based in the Blue Mountains, New South Wales. Her mosaic practice has a strong focus on texture, surface rhythm, and the subtle narratives embedded in place, memory, and material. Andrea is known for work that balances technical discipline with intuitive mark-making, allowing mosaic’s inherent language to convey her narratives.
She is a tutor at Hepworth Studios, Woodford, where she teaches intermediate and advanced students, guiding artists as they refine their technique, deepen their conceptual thinking, and develop confident exhibition practices. Andrea also has extensive experience teaching in local communities and schools and has contributed to significant community mosaic projects, including large-scale installations that enrich shared civic spaces. In 2025, Andrea was selected for the Mosaic Artists of Canada juried exhibition and the Society of American Mosaic Artists juried exhibition. She has been a multiple finalist in the MAANZ International Exhibition, reflecting her growing international profile. Andrea currently serves as Co-Representative of the NSW Branch of the Mosaic Association of Australia and New Zealand (MAANZ), where she actively supports the development, visibility, and professional growth of mosaic practice across New South Wales. |
Erin HallErin Hall is an emerging mosaic artist whose work pulses with the textures, rhythms and quiet magic of the natural world. Based in the Blue Mountains, she brings to her practice a lifelong fascination with organic materials - a passion first sparked during her early career in floral artistry. Surrounded by petals, branches and shifting seasonal colour, Erin developed a deep sensitivity to form and pattern that continues to shape her mosaics today.
Her creative foundation is strengthened by tertiary training in floristry, design and ceramics, giving her a multidisciplinary fluency that infuses her work with both technical precision and intuitive flow. Erin’s mosaics often echo the landscapes she lives among: the layered bark of eucalypts, the geometry of seed pods, the shimmer of sandstone after rain. Each piece is a conversation between material and environment, guided by her respect for the region’s ecology. A dedicated educator as well as an artist, Erin is a long‑term student and tutor at Hepworth Studios and teaches regularly at the Springwood Community Arts Centre. Whether in the studio or the classroom, she is committed to nurturing creativity, encouraging curiosity and helping others discover the joy of making. |
