This LIVE online class is designed for students who want to integrate more sophisticated colour understanding into their mosaic to support their use of andamento.
In this class we focus on understanding colour as a three dimensional concept and complete specific exercises to implement knowledge of Value, Hue and Chroma. Lesson 1 Theory: The Munsell Colour Tree Sample: Value Scale Integration: Greyscale Sphere Study Lesson 2 Theory: Tints and Shades Sample: Gradation Integration: Lemon Study Lesson 3 Theory: Harmonious Blend Sample: Blend & Gradation Integration: Pear or Apple Study Lesson 4 Theory: Negative Space as an Expressive Device Sample: Negative Space, blend & gradation Lesson 5 Theory: Expressive Cutting & Complimentary Colour Sample: Expressive Cutting in Complimentary Gradation We will learn about each technique in four ways. 1. Theory: Looking at mosaic examples. 2. Drawing: Building visual grammar. 3. Making: Consolidating in small physical samples. 4. Integration: Bring techniques together with in more complex mosaic tasks which combine colour theory and andamento. Allow time for homework following each lesson. The class samples are easy and quick to complete. The studies take more sustained focus. Homework is uploaded to Google Classroom where written feedback is provided on each task. |

Which Level to Take?
Which Level to take - 1, 2 or 3? I have found that in general people find Level 1 the best place to start. It's harder than you think!
If in doubt you can CONTACT ME with some images of your work and I will suggest what may be suitable.

Although I enjoy face to face learning, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed online classes. I was able to get more work completed online because students learn techniques together as a group, and we are able to watch Caitlin draw, cut and place materials as we work "alongside" her. I also enjoy being able to connect with students who I would not normally have the chance to interact with due to distance.'

The Level 3 class (Previously Advanced Techniques) was a revelation about what is possible.
It is a well-constructed course that guides one step by step, into modern mosaic methods, making one incredibly aware about how every cut and every decision matters. I recommend it highly.
