Andamento Level 3 is the third course in the Art of Andamento: Curriculum for Mosaic and designed for students who want to deepen their understanding of colour theory.
By teaching students to identify, understand and implement the sometimes confusing elements of colour in structured way, student can then integrate more sophisticated colour application into their mosaic to support their use of andamento. In this class we focus on understanding colour as a three dimensional concept using the Munsell Colour System and complete specific exercises to implement knowledge of Value, Hue and Chroma. The Lesson is broken down into three 1 hour segments. 1. Theoretical Content: Presentations, examining examples, learning about colour principles. 2. Preparation for the Mosaic Study: Completing value, volume, andamento and tesserae drawing and discussing palette preparation. 3. Building a Physical Sample: In the final hour we build a colour blend or gradation live in on camera. Some students work along with me, others catch up after the lesson. Progress is submitted for feedback fortnightly so that feedback is received on the preparatory work before the more involved studies are commenced. |

Which Level to Take?
Which Level to take - 1, 2 or 3? I have found that in general people find Level 1 the best place to start. It's harder than you think!
If in doubt you can CONTACT ME with some images of your work and I will suggest what may be suitable.

Although I enjoy face to face learning, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed online classes. I was able to get more work completed online because students learn techniques together as a group, and we are able to watch Caitlin draw, cut and place materials as we work "alongside" her. I also enjoy being able to connect with students who I would not normally have the chance to interact with due to distance.'

The Level 3 class (Previously Advanced Techniques) was a revelation about what is possible.
It is a well-constructed course that guides one step by step, into modern mosaic methods, making one incredibly aware about how every cut and every decision matters. I recommend it highly.
