Houses of Hundertwasser
ONE DAY WORKSHOP:
In this workshop we will look to the Austrian Artist and Architect Friedrich Hundertwasser for inspiration. We will start the workshop with a presentation on Hundertwasser and his incredibly colourful and imaginative houses, we look at some of his influences and consider the importance and placement of Hundertwaser in the development of Modern mosaics. Following this students select or develop a creative house design to create in mosaic.
We will be working with Mexican and Italian Smalti, as well as cinca, cabochons and gems to create a small mosaic (approx 18cm x 25cm).
The mosaic will be ungrouted to preserve the luminosity of the smalti.
The colourful compositions will be enhanced by using tinted mortars and the background will be rendered with colourful cement based adhesive.

Terms and Conditions.
I manage workshop numbers low to ensure a quality experience for all students. This means that last minute cancellations have a serious impact on the viability of workshops for all students. In addition to workshop fees, some students are paying for flights an accommodation to attend.
In the case of guest tutors, their willingness to work with our studio depends greatly on the viability of their classes.
In order to ensure workshops proceed the following terms apply.
- Workshop deposits are not refundable.
- The balance of fees is refundable if a cancellation is made 2 weeks or more before the workshop date.
In the event that a workshop is cancelled due to Covid 19 restrictions, tutor illness, or an extreme weather event a full refund will be provided.
