Strictly 8 participants each workshop.

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:

Discover the beauty and rhythm of feather forms through mosaic.

In this two-day workshop, you’ll create a wall-hanging mosaic feather, exploring colour, texture and movement inspired by Australia’s rich birdlife.

Choose between a wing or tail feather design, then personalise your palette to reflect the plumage of your favourite species. Bring along a feather for reference if you wish - it’s a wonderful starting point for observation and design.

Each participant will work on a pre-made feather substrate, approximately 40 cm in height. You’ll begin with sketching and colour exploration before planning colour gradations and learning to read the natural andamento (flow) within the feather form.

Guided demonstrations and one-on-one support will cover design refinement, colour blending, and cutting and setting smalti tesserae using tinted mortar.

By the end of the weekend, you’ll have created a vibrant, textural artwork that celebrates the grace and spirit of Australia’s birds.
