Course Description:
In this introductory level class students will learn about the techniques, tools and processes involved in creating mosaic artworks. Students can select to work with Cinca (high fired Porcelain), colourful Vitreous Glass and other mixed media to create mosaics for indoor or outdoor display. Tools and Materials: As part of this introductory experience all the tools and materials are supplied to complete a range of projects. Students are issued with a tool box for use in the studio which contains the tools and safety equipment needed. Students can work with tiles from the studio collection of Vitreous Glass, speciality gems, porcelain tile and more. This does not include smalti or golds. As students progress they may like to start to build their own tool kit and source their own materials. Possible introductory projects include 1. Interior Wall Plaque 2. Mosaic Paving Stone 3. Table Trivett 4. Terracotta Garden Bowl Mosaic 5. House Number Mosaic Your tutor will work with you to decide on a project suitable to your level of interest and experience. |
